EPS – EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE
EPS is polystyrene-based particle foam, which has impressive and unique properties.
We offer you a wide range of molded parts and packaging made from high-quality EPS.
This versatile material not only protects your products when in transit, but is also used in many technical applications.
Environmentally friendly and sustainable
EPS can be fully recycled and is either put back into the production line, or converted into polystyrene by melt processes so that it can enjoy a second life in new synthetic products.
Did you know that over its entire life cycle EPS contaminates less energy and less air and water than the (corrugated) cardboard often referred to as "green"?
EPS, Airpop®, Styrofoam® – three names for one material
Expandable polystyrene (EPS) was developed by BASF in 1949 and has since been known under the brand name of Styrofoam. In 2014, the European manufacturers of EPS packaging and molded parts introduced the new name of "Airpop".
EPS is irreplaceable in many applications because of its unique properties. Its outstanding shock absorption combined with its low weight makes EPS the ideal partner to protect your product when they are being transported. Our EPS boxes offer numerous advantages: not only light in weight, they also have a very high compressive strength. Since EPS boxes absorb virtually no water, they can also be used under extreme temperature and weather conditions, such as in the tropics.
Expandable polystyrene The versatile foam material EPS
- Closed-cell structure
- High compressive strength
- Simple transport
- Low weight
- Sustainable and environmentally friendly
- 100% recyclable
Use packaging made from EPS for all sorts of goodsKontakt
Neopor® – a popular material in the construction industry, too
EPS is an ideal material when used for insulation purposes in the construction industry. Its advantages are apparent. The energy required to produce it is low and transporting it is easy and straightforward. Due to its excellent insulation properties, high energy savings can be achieved. One future-oriented solution in this area is Neopor®, developed by BASF.
The addition of graphite gives this particular EPS its silvery gray color, thus enhancing its insulation performance considerably. In recent years, Neopor has established itself on account of its optimal thermal properties.
EPS boxes offer numerous advantages
- Very lightweight packaging
- High compressive strength
- Water resistant
- Keeps its shape
- Reliable protection for goods
EPS boxes for safe transportation
EPS boxes are economical, efficient and cost-effective. Styrofoam packaging is an excellent choice, particularly for high-value and delicate goods. As 98% of EPS is air, the material is not only very light, it also offers excellent protection against heat and cold. Its low weight saves an enormous amount of cost during transport – without any reduction in its resistance to chemical and mechanical influences. Many of our boxes are also stackable and take up very little storage space. Neopor packaging offers an alternative to conventional Airpop boxes. Owing to its optimized thermal properties, Neopor achieves an even greater insulating effect.
